A Healthy Breakfast

You always hear that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. That’s why I usually start the day with a fruit smoothie.
Smoothies are excellent because they deliver nutrients straight to your digestive system, without having to expend the energy of having to break down solids. (Everything you eat has to be liquified but this stuff is already liquid.) As a result, you get a quick shot of energy that’s much better and healthier than any coffee rush.

Here’s what’s in today’s breakfast:

– 1 banana

– 6 long stem strawberries

– 1 apple

– a handful of blueberries

– Chia powder

– Whey protein powder

Bananas are very low in fat and a good source of Dietary Fiber, Vitamin C, Potassium and Manganese, and a very good source of Vitamin B6. Strawberries and blueberries are packed with vitamins and antioxidants. Chia powder is an excellent source of non-animal Omega-3. Whey is a good source of protein. (One of the most common questions asked of vegetarians is “Where do you get your protein?” Here’s one answer.)
Best of all, smoothies are very easy to prepare. Just throw everything inside an Osterizer and flip the switch! When done, fill it with water and a small amount of dishwashing liquid and cleaning it is just as easy.
